Since retiring from the Royal Military Police in 2011, Rick has been involved in security risk management across a diverse range of sectors. In 2011, he capitolised on his experience and qualifications in Close Protection, having depolyed as Team Leader for CP Teams protecting British Ambassadors and 3* British generals in Hostile environments such as Dem Rep of Congo, Algeria, Sudan and Iraq. This role implied a security advisory responsibility for the principal that was translated, post service, to advise Ultra high networth clientele as a Security Risk Management consultant and Forces Veteran. 

Risk management skills were expanded following the completion of a Masters degree at Loughborough University in 2015 and the client base expanded to include clients in the corporate and critical national infrastructure sectors. 

The greatest acheivement to date was the attainment of Chartered Security Professional status, recognised for expertise in Protective security advice. 

In 2017, Rick was appointed as Chief Executive at the Security Institute and over the next 5 years, he doubled the membership and advanced the capability of the Security sector with professional development focussed, thought leadership that was adopted by the Government Security Profession in 2019. During the years affected by the Covid 19 pandemic, Rick lead the Institute team to embrace digital transformation and increased activities for professional development for all, hosting two webinars each week on a multitude of security topics, inspiring mentorship across the industry; enabling security practitioners to stay ahead of emerging threats and risks despite being forced to work from home. 

In 2022, Rick chose to leave the Security Institute and is now employed as a group director, driving the consultancy practice and training services for three companies in Optimal Risk Group. Rick splits his time between driving business growth and advisory services for their clients internationally across CNI, corporate and private clients.
