A freelance Systems Engineer and Independent Security Consultant, specialising in requirements management, authoring of technical documentation, and validation activities. I have a wealth of experience in converged Electronic Security and Life Safety Systems. My core skills are in the deployment of Video Surveillance Systems (VSS) for mission critical or safety applications, to meet stringent requirements determined by end users, standards, or guidance notes. My designs are often used in the deployment of CCTV in Rail, Rolling Stock, Road, and Aviation.
I also conduct the same tasks in Station Information and Security Systems (SISS), which include Pubic Announcement/Voice Alarm (PA/VA), Customer Information Systems (CIS), Electronic Access Control Systems (EACS), Intruder Detections (IDS), Help Points and Data Networks.
Originally qualifying as an Electrical Engineer (City and Guilds 236), I am a focused and self-motivated individual, who is certified in CCTV System Design (BTEC Level 5 Diploma) and have passed CCNA part 1. I am also a member of The Institution of Engineering and Technology (MIET) and The Security Institute (MSyl), whilst being registered as an Independent Security Consultant (RISC).
I have used my core skills to provide innovative solutions to meet set requirements, looking at how I can combine technologies, such as; CCTV, VSS, Thermal Cameras, Video Analytics, Radar, Access Control, Intruder Detection, Perimeter Detection, Fire Detection, Public Address, and PSIM systems, to designed solutions that meet or exceed expectations.
The understanding of requirements transfers well into the consultancy side of my skill set, as it allows me to produce clear specifications, on behalf of end users, that provide direction for the supply of systems by others.
