Justin Crump

Sibylline, CEO

Justin founded Sibylline in 2010, based on his experience as head of intelligence at Stirling Assynt and as an embedded Security Intelligence Analyst with UniCredit. Justin has served full and part time in the UK’s armed forces since 1995. Originally a front-office investment banker at JP Morgan Chase, after 9/11 he volunteered for operational service as a tank commander; this included operational deployments in Iraq, Kosovo, Afghanistan, and Bosnia. From 2004-2007 he was also the Aide-de-Camp to the 6th Duke of Westminster, in his tenure as Assistant Chief of the Defence Staff. This background, combining cavalry leadership and intelligence insight to business decision-making, is the foundation of the company’s success and its unique ethos as “the place people are proudest to work”. He has degrees from the University of Durham and King’s College London, and is a graduate of the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst and Joint Services Command and Staff College at Shrivenham. He was the President of the intelligence industry association, AIRIP, from 2021-22 and continues as a Board member. As a keen fixed-wing and helicopter pilot, he is currently working on Aviation Warfare for the British Army, but will take over as the chief tactics instructor for the Reserve cavalry regiments in mid-2024. His first book, Corporate Security Intelligence and Strategic Decision-making, was published in 2015 and remains the definitive work on the topic, becoming an Amazon Management Science bestseller. He is currently one of the lead external defence and security commentators for the BBC, and is routinely on channels including Sky News, Deutsche Welle, and in print media globally, including as a columnist in the Sunday Telegraph
