Those who can, do!
I am presently undertaking research at the University of Portsmouth (UoP) relating to the methods used by burglars at the initial entry phase of the crime. Quantification of results and methods, actions taken, analysis of any tampering of security or surveillance systems, evaluation of the burglars ‘competency’ to undertake the intrusion, target selection, and consideration for what tools might be used. Ultimately the results will be aimed at providing guidance and risk metrics for those involved in the design of security and surveillance solutions. The long-term goal is to help surveyors and consultants factor in those who perpetrate such crimes (the problem) so that appropriate assessments and designs can be produced (the solution).
In addition to this, my synopsis includes, but is not limited to the following:
Nearly 3 decades in the FESS Sector (Fire, Emergency and Security Systems) following service in the British Army as an Instrument Technician within the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (REME).
Extensive experience of surveys, risk assessment, management, solution design, component installation and commissioning services, installer training and education, distribution, and product development.
Experience working on a wide range of applications in the UK and overseas. These include complex integrated multi-discipline sites, high value assets (bonds/currencies, precious metals, and gems), military (UK and US), and VIP/HNWI/luxury estates.
Locksmith (including physical intervention solutions).
Ethical Hacker (former… maybe…. how would you know…. 😉).
Independent End Point Assessor (FESS assessments - apprentice and experienced worker routes).
Consultancy Services (Electronic Security and Surveillance being my primary competency areas) and Expert Witness.
My BSc (Hons) Degree Dissertation was considered of sufficient level and quality, that it was selected and entered by the UoP for the UK’s best Masters Dissertation. I was subsequently selected as a finalist, chosen as the winner, and I was presented with the Imbert Award by the Association of Security Consultants (ASC) in 2023.
